Subject: the minnesota get together
wow, i never said it would be easy to coordinate a get together and we are close to a year in the making of us getting together!

its looking like labor day is a bust (not surprising for the minnesota community), so i'm trying to find a new date.
i'd like to give it one more shot before giving up and handing the torch to someone else!

sept is back to school. i know that its a busy back to school time, but i'd like to try and shoot for sept, cause i can still entertain outside. (considering how rotten the weather has been-i'm hoping for a since fall).

can people do sept? if so, i have the 11th, 12th or 13th available right now. i might have the first friday in october available.

can i get an idea if anyone is interested or available?
post below and lets get a feel for what it looks like.....

OK ALL,
i'll repost this again so that hopefully it catches people as they log on at different times!

sept 11.

i can do sept 11.

if anyone else in the twin cities (or if you want to come down on friday from farther away-welcome) wants to meet for an after work BBQ (pray for good weather)---i can do friday the 11th.

please let me know if you can come!!!
also....i dont know all the people that are in the area-so if you do-can you contact them for me? or let them know?
or let me know so i can PM them?

contact me via PM and i'll give you additional information-address, phone #.

since it will be after work, i dont want people to not come because they cant bring something-so bring a little 'cheer' with you and all will be good.

we have a bonfire pit, so be sure to bring clothes you can change in to-or come and change here. the pool is heated if you dare to dip ,and we have a hot tub to warm up in.

its an all around fun 'pad' to party on---and if the weather tanks- we will move indoors.

i wish that you could all come!!!!!!

Mickey Minn,

I wish you luck on gathering up a Northwoods crowd. But what about a virtual party, right here on the BB? Everyone can be invited!

It's my 60th (can't believe I can write that) and the original Mickey Mom's 88th. Yep, I was born just exactly one year after her wedding, on her birthday & anniversary.

I'm planning to make Darcie's Lemon Lavender Bundt Cake for dessert. Yes! DH found the needed ingredients in the A&P.

Of course we will have lobster & champagne, corn if still available (it's been chilly of late).

We can either keep it on this thread, or open a new one.

Toes with a toast in any case!
Well, yes, sometimes cooking is like dancing, and you don't want to step on your partner's toes.

What a great evening and the food was awesome. It was so much fun listening to all the "foodie talk". Michelle thanks so much for putting this all together, it was a lot of fun. And your gardens are amazing! So many ideas, so little space.

This was definitely one of the best evenings I've had since moving to MN! Thanks so much, Michelle, for hosting this event in your lovely home. And of course the company was fantastic! I probably talked too much but it's so nice to have a group where you can discuss the minutiae of food without people around you falling asleep ;)

Speaking of the food, we had superb tender ribs, fluffy rolls, great black beans and awesome rice and beans, thai cucumber salad, and for dessert, CI's sour cream chocolate bundt cake with whipped cream and raspberries. Whew! I was stuffed.

Oh! The ribs!! I've not really been a huge rib fan, but I couldn't stop myself from stuffing them down! The thai cucumber salad was so light and refreshing--I loved the tangy-ness. And the rice and beans---amazing. Hubby (from Central American) talked about them all the way home--so authentic! And to finish it off, that cake and cream---absolutely divine. So moist and rich, but not over-filling. To me, a perfect evening!

It sounds like a wonderful get together. Is anyone posting the rib and thai salad recipes? I think I can manage the rice and beans and have the cake. Thanks.
