Subject: Fair Trade Cocoa
Anyone know where I can find fair trade dutch cocoa for baking? Everywhere I look, online or in stores, all I find is hot cocoa mix. It appears that Frontier makes it and I could probably hunt some up, but has anyone here ever tried it? Is it any good?

I've never tried it but you can buy Frontier at Amazon:
Frontier:

Green and Blacks also makes a fair trade cocoa powder - you can enter your zip code and find locations near you that sell it:

There's nothing better than a good friend, except a good friend with CHOCOLATE.

I've not tried it either, but I do see free-trade cocoa powders at my local co-ops----both in the bulk section, then in cans on the shelves.

Hmmm, I rather like some of the Green and Blacks chocolates, I'll have to look around for the cocoa. Mostly, I just don't have a bunch of cash to throw at experimenting before Xmas and I know I'll probably have to buy a large amount when I do find it. I think the smallest increment I was finding for the Frontier brand was 1lb.

not sure where they get it, but my wife goes to a bookclub that meets at a local Lutheran church, and they have a display out front where they sell fair trade coffees, teas, and cocoa. She says the coffee is good, but we've not tried the cocoa yet. I don't know if this is some local effort, or a mission of the Lutheran church in general, but it might not hurt to see if a church in your area has something like that.
