Subject: Top-rated Rosle Can Opener Fails after One Year
After reading about the top-rated Rosle can opener (reviewed in Cook's Illustrated), I headed out to my local store and purchased one. It opens cans in a way that you can replace the lid (sort-of) and does not produce any sharp edges. Very nice.

Unfortunately, while the product operated as advertised, it failed after about one year of use. I've read similar reviews today on some shopping web sites. This was an expensive purchase. I hope CI will re-consider their rating for this product, but in the meantime, DON'T BUY ONE.

My old-fashioned KitchenAid has worked flawlessly for decades. I guess I can continue to deal with the sharp-edged lids, as before.

I was about to buy one, but i read all the reviews on amazon.com and some people had it fail as soon as a couple of months. many of them had it fail within a year. Convinced me to skip the purchase.

Get yourself one of those infomercial one-touch can openers. They rock.

I will actually admit that my favorite can opener is the Pampered Chef one which does the "no sharp edges" thing too. I won it as a prize at a Pampered Chef party numerous years ago, and it still works perfectly. I really like the no sharp edges on cans. They still carry it and it is like $17.50. I really don't care for utensils with plastic on them, but I have kept this one as I havent found anything better in all stainless.
