How to Listen to Podcasts

If you’re new to the world of podcasts and don’t quite know how to subscribe or listen, you’re in the right place. We created this guide to help you get started. If you get stuck, email us! We’re really excited you want to listen to Proof.

One way to listen is on our podcast website. If you’re on the homepage, click on any episode card: that will take you to a page for that episode, where you’ll find an audio player. This option works best if you’re sitting at a computer.

If you’d prefer to listen on your phone or tablet, many people use podcast listening apps: you can choose the apps that are pre-loaded onto Android and Apple devices, or you can choose from a variety of apps available to download for free from the Appstore or Google Play.

Apple iPhone or iPad

  1. Open the Podcasts app. It is pre-loaded on iPhone and iPad and it has a purple icon. (If you’re reading this on your iPhone or iPad right now, just click this link.)
  2. Search for Proof. From the Podcasts app home screen, tap on the “Search” magnifying glass icon at the bottom of the screen, type in "Proof" and select it from the list of results.
  3. Try an episode. Tap on any episode title from the list on the Proof show page. If you have an internet connection, you’ll be able to listen to the episodes right away.
  4. Subscribe to Proof. If you liked what you heard and want to keep listening, tap the “Subscribe” button to have new episodes sent to your phone for free. You can adjust your notifications to receive a message when a new episode arrives, or you can find new episodes in your Library in the Podcasts app.
  5. Rate and review. If you like Proof, and you have a free moment, it really helps when you rate and review the show on Apple Podcasts. So many listeners turn to ratings to decide whether or not they should subscribe: every star counts! On the show page, scroll down to “Ratings and Reviews” and you’ll find options to select from a 5-star scale and write a review.

Android

  1. Open the Play Store app. It is pre-loaded on your Android device.
  2. Search for “Google Podcasts.” This is a free app from Google Play. Select it from search results and hit the option to Install.
  3. Open the Google Podcasts app. When the install is complete the Google Podcasts app will display on your phone. (If you’re reading this on your Android device right now, just click this link.)
  4. Search for Proof. From the Podcasts app home screen, tap on the “Search” magnifying glass icon at the top of the screen, type in “Proof” and select it from the list of results.
  5. Try an episode. Tap on any episode title from the list on the Proof show page. If you have an internet connection, you’ll be able to listen to the episodes right away.
  6. Subscribe to Proof. If you liked what you heard and want to keep listening, tap the “Subscribe” button to have new episodes sent to your phone for free. You can adjust your notifications to receive a message when a new episode arrives, or you can find new episodes on your home screen in the Podcasts app.

Choose from a variety of podcast-listening apps

Podcast listening apps are available on both Apple and Android. There are lots out there to choose from; you can find a selection of ones we’ve used and can recommend on the Proof homepage.
