Dress up your biscuits by adding just about any flavorful stir-in along with the rest of your dry ingredients. Here are some guidelines for how much to use:
- ¼ to ½ cup TOTAL of shredded, grated, or crumbled cheese; crumbled bacon; sliced scallions; chopped, toasted nuts; and/or dried fruit
- 1 tablespoon minced fresh herbs or ¾ teaspoon dried herbs
- ½ to ¾ teaspoon ground spices
Let kids tap into their creativity and come up with their own flavor combinations or use one of the suggestions below.
- Grated Pecorino or Parmesan cheese and black pepper
- Shredded cheddar cheese and Old Bay seasoning
- Dried cranberries, chopped walnuts, and chopped fresh sage
- Crumbled feta cheese and sliced scallions
- Crumbled cooked bacon and shredded cheddar cheese
These amped-up biscuits make a perfect savory side dish, or split them open and fill them with scrambled eggs for a special breakfast sandwich. The world is your oyster biscuit.
