Oatmeal

Oatmeal is a hearty, healthy breakfast—and a great canvas to paint on. You can be creative and add whatever mix-ins you like to your bowl. Some of our favorite oatmeal combinations are blueberries and almonds, banana and brown sugar, and peaches and cream.

Breakfast Pizza

If you think about it, putting eggs, bacon, and cheese on pizza crust isn’t so different from making a diner-style omelet with toast. It’s just more fun. Start by parbaking store-bought pizza dough and then spread seasoned cottage cheese on top. (Yes, cottage cheese. It adds a silky creaminess.) Finally, layer on the toppings. We like mozzarella, bacon, and eggs for a basic breakfast pizza. But you can also jazz it up with sausage, cheddar, and red bell peppers or smoked salmon, capers, and red onion.

Sausage and Red Bell Pepper Breakfast Pizza

Eggs and sausage on a cheese pizza? Sounds like an excellent breakfast to us. If only we could get the crust to crisp and the eggs to cooperate.

All-American Breakfast Sandwiches

Eggs, sausage, American cheese, English muffins: We bring this classic on-the-go breakfast home. We start by buttering and toasting English muffins under the broiler. Then we form breakfast sausage into patties that are just the right size for the muffins. We cook the eggs in the fat rendered from the sausage and top them with the sausage patties and a slice of cheese. As the cheese melts, it secures the sausage to the egg, so there's no need to worry about your sandwich falling apart. A slice of tomato, a pile of spinach, and a slather of sauce ensure that the sandwiches are superflavorful.

French Toast Casserole

Some mornings call for something sweet, like our French Toast Casserole. While it's not hard to make French toast, when you're serving more than four people, a casserole is the way to go. You can layer the bread and custard in a baking dish ahead of time and just bake it off when you're ready to eat.

French toast casserole sounds like an ideal family breakfast, but only if the dish looks and tastes like breakfast, not dessert.

English Muffins

English muffins are surprisingly easy to make. You simply mix the dough and let it rise, portion the dough into rounds, and then let it rise again. Cooking the dough rounds in a skillet before baking them browns them nicely. Once they're ready, just toast them and top them with butter, jam, sliced avocado, or your favorite toppings (or use them for our breakfast sandwiches above). And if you want to try something even easier, we also have a recipe for English Muffin Bread.
