Yes, You Can Make Chicken Parmesan on the Grill

There’s something about the combination of perfectly seasoned chicken, tangy tomato sauce, and a generous handful of shredded cheese that makes chicken Parmesan a true favorite in my household.

It’s easy and delicious, and it sits comfortably with any side salad of your choice. That’s why any innovation on this dish seems, to me, to be almost unnecessary.

That was until I discovered that I could make this classic recipe right on my grill for that extra midsummer smoky flavor.

Our recipe for Grilled Chicken Parmesan starts off on the stovetop, bringing together fresh tomato sauce in a skillet and then folding in the Parmesan and basil off heat for a deeper flavor. We then head out into the late afternoon sun to fire up the grill.

After no more than 10 minutes over hot fire, these servings of chicken Parmesan will not only feature creamy, saucy layers of cheese and tomato but also hit the plate with deliciously smoky charcoal tiger stripes.

It’s chicken Parmesan unlike any you may have ever eaten it before. It brings this family favorite outside to bask in the sun where it deserves.

My personal suggestion? Toss together a bowl of Summer Cornbread and Tomato Salad and mix up a pitcher of Hibiscus Iced Tea and you have a summer cookout for the memory books.
