When Kenneth Henson was 29 years old and working in Alaska as a plumbing contractor, he developed a buttermilk-based salad dressing one night when making dinner. Everyone loved it so much that when Henson moved to California in the early 1950s and bought a dude ranch (that he named Hidden Valley), he started to sell his famous salad dressing. (You’ve probably seen it on the supermarket shelves!) He also developed the famous brand of “ranch” seasoning packets Americans grew to love, which led to ranch-flavored EVERYTHING!
