Mound 2 tablespoons frosting in center of cupcake. Use small icing spatula to spread frosting to edge of cupcake, leaving slight mound of frosting in center. Keep frosting off paper liners.
If using nuts, candy, or cookies, place them in zipper-lock bag and seal bag. Use rolling pin to gently crush them into small pieces.
