Prepare Ingredients

vanilla frosting or chocolate frosting

cupcakes, baked and cooled
1 cup
sprinkles, shredded coconut, nuts, candy, or cookies

Gather Equipment

1-tablespoon measuring spoon
Small icing spatula
Large zipper-lock bag (optional)
Rolling pin (optional)
Small bowl

vanilla frosting or chocolate frosting

cupcakes, baked and cooled

Mound 2 tablespoons frosting in center of cupcake. Use small icing spatula to spread frosting to edge of cupcake, leaving slight mound of frosting in center. Keep frosting off paper liners.

sprinkles, shredded coconut, nuts, candy, or cookies

If using nuts, candy, or cookies, place them in zipper-lock bag and seal bag. Use rolling pin to gently crush them into small pieces.

Transfer sprinkles, shredded coconut, crushed nuts, candy, or cookies to small bowl. Hold bottom of frosted cupcake with 1 hand and turn cupcake upside down into bowl. Press cupcake into topping and gently rotate it to make sure frosting is evenly coated. Repeat with remaining cupcakes.
